DEWATERING BAGS

TerraTex FilterBags should be placed in a fairly level area. (Filter bags can roll if used on steep slopes.) The bag must be cut open to create a location to insert the pump's discharge hose. After inserting the hose, secure the connection with a clamp, tie wire or other suitable method.

TerraTex FilterBags can handle water flow rates in excess of 2,000 gallons per minute. The amount of discharge water which the bag can effectively filter depends upon such factors as pump flow rate, amount and type of sediment, degree of slope, and the permeability of the underlying surface. All TerraTex FilterBags can handle most applications which utilize a 2", 3" or 4" discharge hose. Larger filter bags are recommended for higher pumping rates.

TerraTex FilterBags are very strong and water permeable; however, they are not indestructible. Extremely high pumping rates and high sediment concentrations can cause the bag to burst. Monitor bag use to assure maximum performance.

Other Considerations...

  • To increase bag filtration rates, place the bag on straw bales or an aggregate layer. This allows for greater flow rates at the bottom of the bag.
     
  • It is generally recommended to not install more than one pump's discharge into a single bag. Instead, for example, place a second pump's discharge into a second bag.
     
  • Be sure to consider the filtered water. Do not allow it to cause erosion.
